Sculptra® Aesthetic Is unlike other fillers. It’s uniquely designed to build subtle and gradual facial volume for people who want to reverse signs of ageing, and not look as though they’ve had work done. Compared with HA (hyaluronic acid) gels that fill up hollows and depressions temporarily, in Toronto, Sculptra® is achieving so much more.
Can it deliver the facial rejuvenation you’re looking for?
What’s behind the signs of facial ageing? Sometimes, people can recognize that their face has changed in photographs or the mirror, but they can’t put their finger on how. One of the main reasons we see facial changes after the age of 30 is the loss of collagen. This is a fibrous protein located in the deep dermis which provides structure and firmness. It helps to support the function of elastin and hyaluronic acid in the tissue. Elastin has the elastic properties you’d expect, keeping the skin toned and preventing sagging. HA is hydrophilic and naturally lubricating to maintain supple skin moisture. Having more collagen in the skin allows for elastin and HA to thrive, leading to overall plump and youthful skin qualities.
The problem which affects men and women alike is that after the age of 30, they begin to lose collagen and produce less of it. By the age of 50, a person may have lost roughly 30% of their facial collagen which means that tissues sag, skin appears thinner and drier, soft contours like cheeks and temples shrink, and the face looks aged. Luckily, medical advancements are presenting new solutions.
It was designed to stimulate your body’s own, innate “filling” power through stimulation of collagen. It’s an FDA- approved injectable used to target the cause of facial ageing, and results are long-lasting. Read on to learn why our clients are in love with their results. learn more.

How can you get more collagen where you want it?
There are numerous skin care products which claim to infuse the skin with plumping collagen benefits. However, the molecules of collagen are too big to penetrate the skin. Many of these treatments contain useful emollients and vitamins, but they don’t ‘restore’ collagen as claimed.
There are consumable collagen products as well, yet the digestive system breaks down proteins, so the potential benefits of this approach are inconclusive.
At Verso Surgery Centre in Toronto, Sculptra® Aesthetic injections are used to help stimulate your body’s collagen production from within. Collagen stimulators can reduce the appearance of facial wrinkles by restoring deep, underlying skin structure. The results are gradual, layered and natural-looking.
How does Sculptra® work?
Many people are familiar with the way that HA dermal fillers work. We’ve explained that Sculptra® is different, and now we’ll tell you why. A poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) stimulator of collagen, Sculptra® works with your body’s processes to help stimulate collagen production within the facial tissue. As PLLA microparticles are integrated into the tissue, they help boost the production of collagen fibres which lifts, tones and smoothes the skin from the inside out. Sculptra® Aesthetic is an injectable gel containing, biodegradable, biocompatible synthetic material called poly-L-lactic acid.
The product is injected deeply into the facial tissue in small amounts where it is slowly absorbed over time. As the particles are incorporated, the collagen fibres which grow will remain and hold volume in the area after the injected product is gone. It’s a great biostimulator for facial rejuvenation, but it can also be useful to restore a youthful appearance to the neck and hands. We’ve had success addressing sagging skin and cellulite under the arms and above the knees using Sculptra® – ask our experts what it might be able to accomplish for you!
How many Sculptra® treatments will you need?
Each patient’s needs and goals are a little different, and your treatment plan will be customized just for you. During your private consultation, your doctor will examine you and listen to your questions and concerns. They’ll let you know how much product you might need, how many sessions, and what the cost will be. At Verso, we believe in honest and transparent discussions about all aspects of a procedure, including possible risks, pros and cons. You’ll receive a realistic estimate of what Sculptra® can do for you and then you’ll be free to decide how you want to proceed.
How long can you expect your results to last?
In Toronto, Sculptra® patients typically find their results last up to 2 years after their initial treatment session. If the results begin to fade after that time, touch ups can be scheduled to help restore the effects.
What will your Sculptra® facial injection appointment be like?
When you visit our beautiful surgical centre, we’ll greet you with a beverage and treat while you fill out some brief medical and consent forms. You’ll be led to a private lounge to discuss a treatment plan and ask related questions, so you have a good understanding of what to expect.
Your practitioner will remove makeup and prepare the injection area with an antiseptic before beginning the procedure. You can have a topical numbing agent applied to the skin for added comfort and injectable; local anaesthetic can also be used to dull sensation in areas where you’ll have multiple injections.
After the product is in place, your injector will thoroughly massage the tissue to distribute the product carefully. You may also be advised to continue massaging the skin and to work out any noted lumps or bumps.
What will the recovery be like after my injection?
Sculptra® treatment in Toronto requires minimal downtime, but you can expect to feel discomfort, inflammation or minor bruising at the injection site. Depending on your personal pain tolerance and the specifics of your treatment, your symptoms may last between 2 days to roughly 2 weeks. For the first 24 hours, you can apply an icepack with a protective cloth around it if you are bothered by swelling. We’ll advise you to avoid tanning or exposure to high temperatures as with saunas until the initial swelling is gone.
Most people are comfortable to resume regular activities directly following treatment, which means they can apply makeup, return to work or run errands.
What are the possible unwanted effects of treatment?
It’s essential to choose treatment with licenced and experienced medical professionals. The risks inherent to any cosmetic injection procedure will be significantly minimized when you visit a reputable, accredited facility and work with knowledgeable professionals. The possible side effects with Sculptra® include localized, temporary bleeding or bruising, swelling and discomfort. These are somewhat normal although they can be reduced through avoidance of certain medications and supplements before treatment.
One rare, delayed side effect can be small, palpable bumps under the skin. These little bumps may not be visible, and you may notice them only when you press on the treated surface. These may go away on their own. Your physician will follow up with you closely to ensure you’re on track and answer any questions or concerns you may have.
