If You’re Considering Eyelid Rejuvenation, Here Is What You Need To Know
LEARN MORE ABOUT BLEPHAROPLASTY PROCEDURES
Did You Know That Eyelid Rejuvenation Is One Of The Most Popular Cosmetic Surgery Procedures For Men & Women?
For many people, the delicate skin around the eyes is the first area to show signs of aging. The appearance of crow’s feet, under eye bags and drooping upper lids can be frustrating because it makes a person appear tired and older than they are. If your eyelids are sagging, heavy-lidded, or you have persistent bags underneath, there’s a cosmetic procedure for that.
What Can Eyelid Rejuvenation Do For You?
Also known as blepharoplasty, this procedure reduces the excess skin above and below the eyes where necessary. Protruding fat pads can be adjusted and removed. Best of all, the scars can remain completely hidden, or well-camouflaged under the lash line and in the natural eyelid crease.
Your eyelid refresh could involve treatment for just the upper or lower lids, or both.
Though purely cosmetic reasons for undergoing the procedure are common, for some people, the extreme drooping of upper lids known as ptosis, can impair vision as well.
We all know that one of the most captivating and expressive facial areas can be a person’s eyes. Find out more about how blepharoplasty can help you.
Who Makes A Great Candidate For This Procedure?
Men and women of all ages who are in good health can benefit from eyelid surgery. Your facial plastic surgeon will meet with you in person to discuss your needs, your concerns and your goals. They’ll examine you and recommend a treatment plan customized to deliver your best outcome.
At the initial appointment, you’ll be asked a few questions about your health and medical history. Medications don’t always preclude the option of surgery, but you’ll need to be upfront about any prescriptions or supplements you take, as they could interfere with healing.
What Is The Recovery Like?
Luckily, you can expect a relatively brief recovery and the process isn’t described as very uncomfortable. However, the eyes are sensitive, and it’s common to experience swelling and watering while you heal. Your facial surgeon will advise you about topical medications to apply and cold compresses if necessary.
You’ll also be asked to avoid strenuous activity for a short time, and that includes the gym or vigorous housework. You’ll need to keep your head elevated somewhat, even while sleeping, to reduce fluid retention and discomfort.
The puffy eye area and tearing could last a week or more, so we’ll advise you to take roughly two weeks off work. For the first 3-5 days, reducing the use of your eyes and relaxing in a dimly lit space is the most comfortable. You’ll need to hold off on driving temporarily until vision is clear and you’re no longer taking medications. If you have any sutures in place, they’ll come out during one of your initial follow up appointments.
The tiny incisions used in this procedure typically heal to be faint, thin lines and if external, they’ll be hidden in natural creases.
