Debunking These Common Myths About Facelifts In Toronto

LEARN MORE ABOUT FACELIFT PROCEDURES

If you’ve been considering a facelift in Toronto for any amount of time, you’re sure to have come across some far-fetched or contradictory procedure information. Sorting out the facts from fiction can be difficult for the average patient researching online. If you’re wondering about “liquid facelifts” or scar-free procedures and what they can do, we’re going to let you know. As well, if you’re nervous about recovery and all that it entails, we’ll put your mind at ease. Whether you’re seeking a full procedure or something more subtle, here’s a few common myths you can ignore.

The Recovery Is Extremely Painful — False!

Thankfully, this is far from how most patients describe their post-op experience. The facial tissue is very vascular, and as a result, swelling and bruising can be dramatic. You may look like you’ve received a severe facial trauma, but you won’t feel that way. The procedure moves delicate muscle and skin tissue and results in strategically placed incisions around the ears and into the hairline. You will not have an injury to your bones, and facial nerves are carefully protected as much as possible, so pain is minimal.

People report tightness and pressure which is alleviated with prescribed analgesics and careful positioning. Most symptoms resolve by the two-week mark.

A Liquid Facelift In Toronto Can Do All The Same Things, but Faster, With No Scars — False!

We’re sure everyone wishes that were so, and injectable “facelifts” can make aesthetic enhancements without scars, but the results are not comparable to a surgical procedure. Instead, dermal fillers and neuromodulators like Botox are used to fill in tissue with HA gel, or soften muscle movement. This type of facial rejuvenation has the nickname, “soft lift” or “lunchtime lift,” but they are really about volume restoration and smoothing of forehead furrows. You’ll enjoy the results from your injectable treatment for roughly 9-12 months and for those who need subtle improvements, this is a great option.

Over time, our facial skin loses its natural elasticity, collagen and hydration capabilities. The first signs may be fine lines around the eyes or mouth, thinning lips, hollowing cheeks or frown lines. Find out more about facelifts.

Mini Facelifts Have Little To No Downtime – False

At Verso Surgery Centre, our experienced facial plastic surgeons perform mini and full facelifts, but we don’t encourage our clients to think mini means no recovery. You can expect to have shorter incisions with the s-lift, but underlying tissue, ( SMAS) is still adjusted for lasting effects, and excess skin will be removed. The time your body takes to resolve swelling, bruising and to heal incisions, can’t be sped up.

So, while a mini procedure might cause slightly less inflammation, you’ll still need to count on two weeks before you feel like yourself and have healed incisions. Keep in mind that a smaller version of a the procedure will achieve less dramatic improvements. For younger patients, this is sometimes preferable.

The Results Always Look Unnatural — False!

If this were true, we wouldn’t promote them. The truth is that today’s innovative techniques and highly trained facial plastic surgeons deliver facelifts in Toronto which look astonishingly natural, and they last. Unlike in procedures of the past, no stretching and pulling of skin is involved. Much of the ’lifting” work is done on the many layers underneath your skin.

These are elevated and restored, then skin and fat padding are repositioned and gently secured in place. An expert facial plastic surgeon will let you know when a facelift surgery will look far more natural than overdoing fillers and Botox.
